Visiting calligrapher, Sue Smith, is coming to town! During Sue's class we will look at ways at developing texture in calligraphy by experimenting with different rhythms and layers. We will use a variety of tools and the specific marks that they make. 

Participants ideally should have a good working knowledge of at least one script, both majuscules and minuscules, though it would be possible to do this workshop using only handwriting if necessary. 

We will work towards producing a small origami book full of ideas and sample textures as a reference for future use in calligraphic pieces. In the time allotted it will not be possible to complete a full book but instruction will be given on the very simple process necessary to finish later.
