Originally from Liverpool, I completed my schooling in Durban, South Africa. After leaving a career in the City of London I studied at Reigate School of Art and Design (with Jon Gibbs, Gerald Mynott and Rachel Yallop) gaining an HND with Distinction in Calligraphy, Heraldic Art and Illumination in 1997. I was thrilled to be awarded the Scriveners Company “Prize for achievement” by Donald Jackson MVO.
Past member of the Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, Heritage Craft Association, CLAS, SSI, The Copperplate Special Interest Group, Cinque Port Scribes, South London Lettering Association, Society for all Artists, Lingfield Scribes and Sussex Scribes. Past committee member of CASB (CLAS Academic Standards Board) as Diploma Skills and Certificate of Skills administrator. Participating member of Scribbled Lives since 2016. I was actively involved with The Edward Johnston Foundation in Ditchling, Sussex, past member of North Downs Calligraphers, Letter Exchange and Guild of Glass Engravers.

I am a CLAS (Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society) accredited tutor as well as PTTLLS (City and Guilds) qualified to teach in Adult Education.
I teach traditional broad edge and pointed dip pen calligraphy to my local group, Weald Scribes (currently suspended).
I give talks and demonstrations to art and WI groups and teach weekday workshops.
